Clinical Simulation Center |
When your mission is Patient First, it's best not to practice on patient's first. The ER One Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) at Washington Hospital Center spearheaded the first in the nation training initiative to improve patient safety and decrease morbidity by training residents on central line procedures prior to starting their clinical practice. The CSC has 6 bays, a debriefing room and a control room. All sessions can be videotaped and reviewed for debriefing. Sessions include team training for fire safety, code blue team training and advanced airway skills. Standardized patients are included in case studies and have been used in several ER and spiritual care training sessions. The use of high fidelity mannikans including "SimMan" and "Noelle" allow for realilstic training in a risk free environment- so the next time you will not feel like you are doing it the first time.

ER One experts provided development support to the creation of HICS.
